Junior Results 2011 - Event 4 - UK Kids Qualifier - July


6 Winners from Stonham Barns for UK Kids Golf Qualifier
With the UK Kids organisation in its first year Stonham Barns was delighted to be able to host a regional qualifier which was held on Sunday 31st July 2011 over the short 9 hole course. This event produced 6 winners that will go forward to the finals. The event produced some great golf on a sunny day and the winners included two sets of siblings, Michael and Andrew Gee and Jude and Rio Everitt.

The age group winners were as follows: Boys 12-13 age group was won by Michael Gee, a 12 year old from Bury St Edmunds, who scored a 36 over the 9 holes (7 over par). The Boys 10-11 age group was won by Jude Everitt, an 11 year old from Stowmarket Golf Club. The Boys 8-9 age group was won by Andrew Gee (brother of Michael Gee – a good day for the Gee’s),  a 10 year old from Bury St Edmunds GC. The Girls 8-9 age group was won by Layla Farthing, a 9 year member of Fynn Valley Golf Club. The Boys 6-7 was won by 8 year old Joshua Hulyer from Haverhill Golf Club and the Girls 6-7 was won by 7 year old Rio Everitt (Jude’s brother and a good day for the Everitt’s).

The UK Kids Golf events are all about working to get juniors under 14 playing and enjoying golf by providing an opportunity for boys and girls to play golf in a fun, competitive environment on good quality courses and hopefully a motivation for kids to get involved in golf.

Each year there are eight Under 12 junior events at Stonham Barns and these are usually on the last Sunday of each month though April to November. The next event is on the 28th August and is open to any boy or girl under 12 as at 1st Jan 2011. For this event players can just turn up on the day and play 9 holes and as usual there will be prized in all the age categories.
