Cape Crest

Cape Crest Waterproof Golf Clothing was founded in 1990 by the husband and wife team of Nick and Frances Dalton.

Nick started in the golf business in 1980 and the experience he gained working for several leading equipment manufacturers convinced him that there was a gap in the rainwear market which a small but dedicated team with an in-depth knowledge, could successfully exploit and develop.

Nick Dalton's previous face-to-face experience dealing with golf club professionals, along with the extensive knowledge which Frances gathered during several years on the Women's European Tour, has been instrumental in creating an extensive, distinctive, stylish and price conscious range of cape crest weatherproof clothing.

The range started with only two products but has now grown to over 50, and to the point where Cape Crest is now among the brand leaders, being nominated in the category ‘Best Waterproofs’ in the Golf World Industry awards in 1998.

One section of the business, which Cape Crest has focused their considerable talents on, is creating rainwear specifically for ladies. Cape Crest believe that the vast majority of rainwear manufacturers have tended to ignore this market and with recent statistics showing the lady golfer population having now risen to 25% it is a market to be taken very seriously.

Personal experience gathered over the past twenty years of talking to golf pros and lady golfers, along with in-depth research, convinced Cape Crest to invest heavily in an exclusive, extensive ladies collection.

Price is another key factor when it comes to buying rainwear; and Cape Crest are confident the golfing public will not only find their clothing effective at keeping the elements at bay, comfortable and stylish to wear, but also extremely competitive across a range of different price points.

Similarly, when it comes to design and colour, Cape Crest believes the market is much less conservative than it used to be.

Thanks to the introduction of softer and lighter waterproof fabrics, many golfers now also wear the tops of their rain suits away from the golf course as a leisure garment. While there is still a strong demand for the more conventional dark and plain colours, Cape Crest are discovering a substantial increase in the sale of garments which feature bolder colours and subtle patterns.

The most important aspect of creating and selling rainwear successfully will continue to be providing garments which keep the golfer dry and which also allows the player to swing the club in comfort. Cape Crest's range of rainwear not only meets both these requirements, but also seeks to introduce more style and colour into a market place, which has traditionally been rather conservative.

The ladies waterproof market is one area of the business where Cape Crest believe they have stolen the march on the competition by creating a line of rainwear which is totally feminine when it comes to colours, style and fit. While this range is also guaranteed waterproof and ideally designed for playing golf in, the design and colours also make it a garment which women would be happy to wear as part of their leisure clothing wardrobe.

Along with their selection of rain suits, Cape Crest also offers an extensive range of windproof products which complement they're guaranteed waterproof products.

The recipe for Cape Crest's success is to capitalise on their ability to respond quickly to advances in rainwear manufacture and design, while at the same time providing a comprehensive range of stylish, well made and colourful clothing at competitive prices. It's a formula, which Cape Crest believes will ensure the rapid growth in business, which they are currently enjoying.
